AEA Frank Glendenning Memorial Lecture
Following Frank’s death on 13th December 2002 the Association for Education and Ageing established an annual memorial lecture. The first lecture in 2003 was given by one of Frank’s closest colleague’s Chris Phillipson, Professor of Applied Social Studies and Social Gerontology at Keele University.
The lectures take place at the annual general meeting of the association and the most recent lecture on 2nd April 2009 was at Lancaster University. This was given by Professor Keith Percy who with Frank established the Journal for Education and Ageing. Keith is retiring and this was something of a reprise of the journey in educational gerontology which he and Frank took together.
It has been a great pleasure to attend all the lectures. Each year I learn something new about Frank and this year was no exception.
