In January 2004 I donated a kidney to my niece Sarah. The operation was flawed and within a few days we knew it had failed. When I returned home it was not easy to carry on as if nothing had happened. I was quickly fit and well but Sarah was very ill and on her return home she had to endure dialysis and all the constraints this places on everyday life. I decided that there was only one way to proceed and that was to find ways to support other kidney patients here and overseas. I therefore decided to:
Support the North Staffs Kidney Patients Association (NSKPA)
Purchase a kidney dialysis machine for the Salma Dialysis Centre in Khartoum (Sudan)
