Member of the National Federation of Kidney Patients

The North Staffs Kidney Patients Association was established in 1982 by a small group of patients, to offer mutual support to people suffering from renal disease.  As the number of patients has increased, so the association has grown to over 500 members.

The Association produces two newsletters a year and usually organises a Christmas party.  Last year, £400 was raised by a raffle and other money comes mainly from donations and gifts and occasional fund raising activities.  Two magazines a year are purchased for Wards 32, 3 and 33 and in 2003 the association was able to provide six blood pressure machines, four wheelchairs, four fold up walking sticks, a stair life and one pair of talking scales to patients as well assist with holiday insurance.  Not infrequently, the practical assistance of the association may facilitate a patient’s discharge from hospital sooner rather than later!

A new member automatically becomes a member of the National Federation and receives the federation’s magazine which is an invaluable information resource.
