PARINS: A Partnership Approach to Racist Incidents in North Staffordshire
On 10 November 2009 I resigned as chair of PARINS and handed on the baton.
PARINS was launched on 3 March 1999. The Partnership’s 10th anniversary marks 15 years since teenager Stephen Lawrence was murdered and 10 years since the publication of the Macpherson Report. During this time PARINS has become recognised as an effective and successful multi-agency partnership which plays a significant role in helping to make North Staffordshire a safe place in which to live and work.
Partners include Staffordshire Police, Stoke City Council, Staffordshire Moorlands District and Newcastle Borough councils, Staffordshire Crown Prosecution Service, Stoke Citizen’s Advice Bureau and until January 2009 the North Staffordshire Racial Equality Council.
Being involved with PARINS has been a privilege and was reluctant to resign but the time was right. The partnership is set to go from strength to strength and I am especially pleased that PARINS is facilitating a North Staffordshire Hate Crime Network.
